The Beauregard Parish School Board recognized the 2024-2025 Outstanding School Support Employees (OSSE) at the September 12, 2024, School Board meeting.
The Louisiana Department of Education sponsors the OSSE program each year to recognize outstanding employees at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels in the operation of activities not requiring a teaching certificate.
“The nominees for the 2024-2025 Outstanding School Support Employees of the Year display outstanding leadership qualities, inspiring and motivating others in the schools,” said OSSE BPSB Program Coordinator Kari Ifland. “They evidence service and achievement beyond what is expected of their job title, exemplify professionalism, and have good rapport with students, parents, and co-workers.”
Sheridan Douglas, paraprofessional at K.R. Hanchey Elementary, was named the 2024-2025 Beauregard Parish Outstanding Elementary Support Employees of the Year. Kay Duran, paraprofessional at Merryville High School, was named the 2024-2025 Beauregard Parish Outstanding Middle School Support Employee of the Year. Tina Tilley, school food service manager at DeRidder High School, was named the 2024-2025 Outstanding High School Support Employee of the Year.
“The BPSB School Board honors all those employees who keep our schools clean and safe, who answer phones and are the face of the school to the public, who take care of the financial operations, who maintain and keep up our buildings and grounds, who safely transport our students, who aide our teachers, who feed our students, and in many other ways support the educational process at our schools,” concluded Ifland. “Our schools could not operate effectively or safely without them.”
