PWE Receives Library Grant

Jill Simon, librarian at Pine Wood Elementary, applied for a $400 grant from Lexia and First Book to help fill the shelves with books geared toward the school’s new addition of sixth grade. She shared how an infusion of new books would help better serve the students in the school by providing age appropriate books for the added grade level at the school. First Book is a non-profit organization that offers free and low cost books for Title I schools. Lexia was founded in 1984 to help students with dyslexia. Today, the company continues to help readers by developing programs with the science of reading based approach.
