Beauregard Parish schools launch new website this week

The Beauregard Parish school system will launch a new website this week, according to Assistant Superintendent Marlin Ramsey.

District and school webmasters have been working since this summer to upgrade the websites to a more user-friendly model that has features compatible with the needs of today’s educators, students, and parents.

“We decided to make the move to a new format with features that we hope will make navigating our websites easier, that will provide webmasters and administrators with expedient ways to update information, and that will be useful to students and parents alike,” Ramsey explained.

The district and school websites have a common layout and tabs for convenience in navigating all the sites. A calendar of events is prominently displayed on the home page along with links for the Parent Communication Center, school lunch menus, and Clever – a program that stores all passwords in one place for student and teacher accessibility.

“The Clever feature will become more beneficial as students and teachers continue the transition to the paperless Google Classroom format,” said Ramsey.

Administrators and webmasters also have access to features not available on the previous format. Accessing an App on their phones, they can update the website at any time.

“The App will allow for immediate communication of safety issues, of event photos while the event is happening, and other situations where it is imperative or convenient to get the information on the website in a timely manner,” Ramsey stated.

In addition, the App allows for integration of all online formats together. So a change to the webpage can also be included on the social media sites that the school uses.

“We expect that the new websites will be easier to use, easier to navigate, and provide information that employees, students, and parents need,” he concluded.
